awarding scientific degrees of doctor and habilitated doctor in the discipline of astronomy,
validation of scientific degree diplomas,
giving opinions on study programmes in fields assigned to the discipline of astronomy,
indicating directions of personnel policy within the discipline of astronomy,
giving opinions on personnel evaluation and promotion criteria,
giving opinions about promotions and employment in the position of an academic teacher,
taking a position on matters concerning scientific research, development and education in the discipline of astronomy.
Rules and regulations:
all members of the Council (all who receive an invitation) are obligated to attend Council meetings,
please report your absence from the Council as soon as possible, specifying the reason of the absence,
absence may be excused only in the case of leave, illness (sick leave) or delegation to other official duties,
the Council meeting are organised in the stationary form in the Observatory of NCU in Piwnice, only in particularly justified cases, we have the right to organise remote meetings,
meetings of the Council will be organised only when there will be a need to vote or discuss some matters,
meetings are typically organised on Wednesday mornings, usually one week before meetings of the Dean’s Council,
during the period when there are no classes (inter-semester break, end of June, September), we may organise Council meetings in other days of week and hours,
the Council is not convened in July and August,
anyone can submit matters to be voted, discussed or announced in the Council,
please note that the invitation for Council must be sent at least five days before the meeting, therefore all matters for discussion should be reported well in advance.
Members of the Council:
research and teaching staff with a doctoral degree or higher, who have declared astronomy as their research discipline,
with an advisory vote:
Dean,
two representatives of the student government,
one representative of the doctoral students’ self-government for current doctoral students and doctoral students from Doctoral Schools,
one representative from each trade union operating at the University, who is an employee of the Faculty.
